Beginner and Advanced Beginner Series with Jeff Badler
Beginner Series with Jeff Badler.
If you have no experience with bridge, take his Beginner 1 course, which consists of 5 weeks of instruction and interactive play for $175. It includes Jeff Bayone’s book, A Taste of Bridge and a free 6-week subscription to BestEbridge.com, a wonderful practice site. Visit our site to view a complete description of the Beginner series.
If you have anywhere from 2 months to 3 years of exposure to bridge, contact him and, in a 10 minute phone call, he will help decide which of his classes will be appropriate for you. He teaches Beginner 1, 2, 3 & 4.
The Beginner Review course takes place every Wednesday at 9:00 AM ET.
Been away from bridge for a while?
Jeff Badler’s review series is for those of you who would like to shore up basic bidding and play of the hand skills. This class will help those who haven’t played in a while. It will help you brush off the rust. Jeff begins with no trump and major-suit contracts, and moves on to reviews of Stayman, Jacoby Transfers, takeout doubles, and overcalls.
This class is ideal if you have finished Beginner series or equivalent experience. Class notes are provided. You will be bidding and playing many hands. Jeff will go over every hand, and reinforce the bidding and techniques of declarer play. Lots of practice as you will be the declarer on every hand.
This is meant for people who have already learned the material and need a review. For first timers, please take the Beginner series.

The Whole Megillah
Whole Megillah comes from a Yiddish expression which means the entirety of something, involving a long, complicated story. You’ll be bidding and playing lots of hands every session. You will get to declare every hand. Then each hand will be explained. The course includes lessons on pre-emptive bids, utilizing 2 over 1, alternate game forcing bids and slam auctions including Key-Card Blackwood. Always something fun and interesting.
This is one of Jeff’s most popular classes. The Monday & Tuesday sessions of The Whole Megillah class have been running continuously with a loyal following for over 12 months, with no end in sight. You will learn new techniques to make you a better declarer, and gain the confidence to get you ready for competitive duplicate bridge. Many students have found their future bridge partners for our Newplicate introductory competitive bridge games. This class is intended for those who have completed the Beginner series or equivalent experience.
There are two versions of this class taking place. On Friday mornings, Jeff teaches, “The Whole Megillah…From the Beginning.” The Monday and Tuesday sessions are more advanced, as most participants have been attending for at least 6 months.

Mini courses will take place Monday evenings and repeated Tuesday mornings. These are 3 or 4 two-hour online sessions. The next one, Stayman and Jacoby Transfers…The Next Level is a collaboration with Joe Byrnes. Joe has twice been bestowed Teacher of the Year honors, and is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced teachers in the country.
We assume you have likely learned the basics of Stayman and Jacoby Transfers. There are more advanced versions that will allow you and your partner to describe your hands in greater detail. The scenarios come up quite often, and using these bidding tools will help your partnership more often arrive at the optimal contracts.
